Take Your Child to Work Day

Tim works for a GREAT company and has a wonderful boss and co-workers; they let him bring Blake and Bryce in for "National Take Your Child to Work Day". They left this morning at 8am and I picked them up at noon, so they put in a good half day of work! They helped Dad do some water testing in the lab, got to ride a fork lift with one of the workers, played on the computer, made deliveries throughout the office and got treated to hot chocolate and doughnuts! What a fun day :) This was especially important to Blake because he want to be a scientist one day!

Thank you to Daddy and Plymouth Technology!

Big Boy Bed

After weeks of Max climbing out of his crib consistently (he actually started it when he was 14 months) we didn't want him to get hurt in his exhausted escape maneuvers, so it was time to covert his crib to a toddler bed :( He has done GREAT with the transition and is quite happy with his new sleeping situation.

He stays in bed for the most part and knocks at his door when he is ready to come down.
Our baby is a baby no more. He is 18months going on 4 years, just wants to be one of the boys. He still isn't saying too many words, but he fully understands everything and follows directions very well. His big brothers give him whatever he wants, so he has found no need to use words. This baby of our family is loved to pieces and enjoys his role as center of attention :)

5k? No Way!!!!

First, I will start out by saying that I am not fit, nor am I in shape, nor have I EVER EVER had an interest in running. In the middle of March, however, I decided it was time I start taking care of myself, no more excuses! My friend Kara sent me an invitation for the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure at the Capitol building in Lansing and apparently an invitation was all I needed. My mind was made up, I was going to run that 5k!!
I started running using the Couch to 5k program and literally thought I was going to DIE when I had to run for 90 seconds at a time. It was about a week and a half into it when I convinced my best friend it was a good idea for her, too! We became running buddies and encouraged each other along the way.
Four days before the race was the first time I made it 3.5 miles running non-stop, I knew I was ready! My friend, however, took a little more convincing, but I wouldn't let it go and finally the day before the race she committed! We ran our first 5k together at about even pace and crossed the finish line together! The weather was bitter cold with 40mph wind gusts, but we made it, we had fun, and we did better than we ever thought we would do. Most importantly, it feels amazing to have accomplished this goal. Now, enter my competitive spirit . . . I want to run more races and I want to get FASTER. So, the training will continue and I am excited about my new hobby I can share with my BFF :)
Thank you to Rachael for telling me to stop making excuses. Thank you to Kara for inviting me to the 5k and for inspiring me to want to take care of myself (she has transformed herself and I think she is amazing). Thank you to Lindsay for the support, encouragement, and friendship. Thank you to Andrea for telling me I can do it! Thank you to Traci for the running advice and support. Thank you to Tim for entertaining the kids so I can sneak away for a run. Thank you to Monica for being my running buddy and my constant support! Love you all sooooo much!!!
This was a really big deal for me and I just wanted all of you to know that I appreciate you and am thankful to have you in my life.

Introducing the O'Mara Rockstar Band

Never before seen photos of the O'Mara Rockstar Band surfaced this afternoon following a rare private performance in Grand Blanc, Michigan.
Blake, Bryce, Quinn and Max opened their show with Blake giving a shout out, "This show is for all the children. We want children to be who they want to be". The crowd went wild for this heartfelt statement! Left to Right: Quinn on electric guitar, Bryce on lead vocals, Blake on acoustic guitar, and Max as backup vocalist/fly guy

Rock on guys, Rock on!
