Pajama Day

No school today and Bryce is sick, so we decided to make it a pajama day, which means we showered, brushed our teeth, brushed our hair and put on a new pair of pajamas to just be inside all day! Bryce has been throwing up since Sunday at 4am so the washing machine has been running non-stop and I have been disinfecting like a crazy person . . . we need a day like today. Bryce is still sick: fever, throwing up and the "squirts" as he calls it, but so far the rest of us have avoided the bug (our fingers are crossed).
The boys are loving our pajama day and Bryce has actually kept this Popsicle down, so I hope we are on our way back to normalcy!

Boys, Boys Everywhere!

The Brunworth family came all the way from Muskegon for a visit this weekend and that made for a whole lot of BOYS in our house. Blake and Mason (both 4 years old), Bryce (3yrs), Brady (2 yrs.), and Logan (1yr) had a great time together. They all played really well together which made it so much fun for all of us!

Thanks for coming Brunworth Family, we can't wait for our camping trip this summer!

Sticks and Stones

Sticks and stones can break your bones, and apparently so can bounce houses. Blake and I were at a birthday party yesterday (Happy 1st Birthday, Autumn) and Blake was having the time of his life in a bounce house set up in the basement. That is until he jumped out and missed the slide, landing on his shoulder on the basement floor. He let out the most ear piercing scream and continued to scream like that every time he tried to move his arm. So, after being at the party for 20 minutes off we went to ER. After a long wait and several X-rays, the verdict: Broken Right Collar Bone. He is in a sling with Ace wraps to immobilize his arm for 6 weeks.

Here is his going over the details with his brother

All wrapped up!
He is trying to figure out how to get through his day with one arm, his left arm at that. He actually slept well last night, but couldn't figure out how to get out of bed this morning. He called for me and I found him laying on his back with his legs hanging off the bed, unsure of his next move. We have a lot to work on, especially how to write left handed as he is making so much progress at school with writing.

"Look, Mom, ONE hand!"
He is really enjoying all the extra attention right now (typical male), but I am nervous about the novelty wearing off and reality setting in. Luckily he has a concerned nice little brother who is eager to help him. That's all for now, I am heading out shopping today for easy on and off pants, the last thing this guy needs to deal with is zippers and snaps with one hand.
PS-- We are going to Disney in 4 weeks, so this is perfect timing, poor baby :(
PSS-- Confession: I cried as much as he did, it was AWFUL seeing him in so much pain.

Emily & None Hair

Our new babysitter, Emily, started last week and everything is going great! It's like having a Nanny, part time anyways. She comes to our house, plays with the boys, does projects, makes fun snacks, has the boys pick up their toys, and dedicates time to reading books & teaching new skills. She also transports Blake to and from preschool and takes them to the library. Today I came home and she had run the dishwasher, picked up the house, and both boys were napping . . . ahhh a beautiful thing.

We really miss Nancy, but she is recovering at home and doing well with her physical therapy. We visit her often and hope that Bryce can go back to her house in the Fall.

Changing the subject --- how do you teach an almost 5 year old how to correctly say the following statements:
"He has none hair on top"
"What would happen if we had none bones in our bodies?"
Although I think it's kinda cute, I can't get through to him in my attempts at explaining (it's harder than I thought), so a little help please? Any kindergarten teachers out there, hint hint Ashlie :)

Special Friends

The Dunneback family came over for a visit today and we couldn't believe how big the girls have gotten since we saw them last. Avery & Taylor are 5 months old now and as cute as can be :)

Smiley Girls
Avery on the left and Taylor on the right
My 2 babies look HUGE next to the girls

The boys snuggled up to Leah and Taylor while Leah read
the "Bryce" book that she got him for Christmas
(His picture and name are throughout the book, very cute and a huge hit)
As always, a true delight to spend time with the Dunnebacks. Thanks for coming!!

Kara and her new baby girl

The Grove Family
Jeff & his girls

We can't wait for everyone to be home so we can play with Lia some more!

Fun with Quinn

Quinn came over to play on Friday and we had a great day! Blake & Bryce just love their cousin and are really good helpers, too. Bryce fed him his bottle (with supervision and a lending hand) and Blake showed him all the cool new toys we have.
Quinn is 7 1/2 months old now. He loves to pull himself up on things and is really trying hard to figure out how to crawl. He's soooo close!
Quinn was cheesin for the camera while Bryce kept a watchful eye

Blake showed Quinn his new Leap frog Leapster game
Blake is a good big cousin and let Quinn play with it, too

Blake LOVES babies and asks me everyday when we can have another one
Notice how Quinn is waving hello with his foot

the O'Mara cousins

We had so much fun with Quinn!

How to Guide

How to get a large item through a small opening . . . sound familiar?? Anyways, here is the Blake and Bryce guide on how to accomplish this task:

Push and push with all your might
Take a break from the pushing to rest, it re-engergizes you

Get back up and push some more

See, it works!

Hummer

Thank you to Grandma & Grandpa for the two-seater Hummer truck! The boys have been asking for one for the last 2 years and they were thrilled to see it sitting in the living room when they got home.
They LOVE it!!!
Brycie is enjoying the ride

Until Blake got them stuck in a snow bank

No worries, Blake can dig them out!
