Babies on the Brain

Catchy title, right? Well, sorry to disappoint, but it's not me who has babies on the brain, it's Blake! This morning as I was taking him to Nancy's house and he was full of questions and I was not prepared at all. He said, "Mom, I think we need to put a baby in your belly."
Startled, I said, "Why do you say that Blake?"
He responded, "Collin has a new baby brother, Mason has a new baby brother, Ty has a baby sister, and Erica is having cousin, I want a new baby, too."
I thought I was off the hook when I said, "But, Blake, you already have a little brother, Bryce"
He said, "Yeah, but I want another one, and I want it to be a sister."
Then the dreaded question came . . . "If you have a baby in your belly, how does it get out? Does your belly break?"
I stalled long enough to come up with something about it being a miracle from God, only he wasn't satisfied. He asked again, "Yeah, but how does it really get out?"
I gave in to the pressure and told him that the baby comes out of my belly button!!!!
Was I right or wrong to tell him that, I don't know, but it was honestly all I could come up with at 7:30 in the morning on my way to work. Fortunately, I think I bought myself some time, so if anyone has any advice on how to appropriately explain the miracle of life to an almost 4 year old little boy I would be happy to listen :)

Playdate

Several years ago now Tim worked for PPG and while there he always talked about his work conversations revolving around football. He would say things like "Yeah, I bet the guys at work that the Lions would win 10 games this season". Everytime he would say "the guys at work", he would then correct himself by saying "I mean Denise." Denise was his co-worker and the only other one in the building that was into sports, so they became quick friends. Now Denise and her husband, Tony, have 2 girls Allie and Julianna, so it makes for a natural playdate :)
Here are the kids incidentally arranged by age
Bryce kept insisting to "snuggle her", the kid is smooth
Blake had fun goofing around with Tony
Denise and her 2 beautiful girls
As always, Blake had a hard time with goodbyes, but Bryce was right there giving big hugs and ksses to anyone in reach :)

Valentine's Day

We had a happy Valentine's Day yesterday. Blake and Bryce made heart-shaped fudge with Nancy, their babysitter, and Blake even told Nancy that they better not sample too much, because "my mom says we can't have too many treats". We had a Valentine's date with the Dunneback family at our usual meeting spot in Durand.
Here are 2 of my 3 Valentines
Leah is lookin GOOD while cookin twins
She is 13 Weeks

Daddy D shows his credit card, "Do you know how much twins are going to cost?"
Thanks for the date, Dunnebacks!

It was so nice to share our Valentine's Day with friends we love!

Boys like Girls

We went to the playland at Halo Burger today and in walked 2 cute little girls maybe 3 and 5 yrs old. Bryce immediatlely said "hi" about 3 times and flashed his charming grin. Bryce continued to stalk them while they ate their lunch, and Blake was sly keeping tabs out of the corner of his eye. As soon as the girls hit the play land, both boys pounced. Blake was asking their names and chased them around while Bryce took notes as he tried to keep up.
I guess it's bye bye shy guys and hello social butterflies! Blake was even faking injuries to get attention and/or sympathy from the girls . . . a typical boy!!! He would say, "OH, I hurt my forehead" or "Ouch, my toe hurts". I wonder where he learned that from?????

Nighttime Ritual

Every night Blake and Bryce get their pajamas on and start to go crazy. It's their last stitch effort to get out their energy before they have to lay down. They run in circules and then stop to hug every now and then.
Blake "slid into 1st" and this is how he ended up
Then Bryce tried it, too
Here is the final hug good night . . . Blake makes a good one!
I also snuck in a picture of Bryce holding Baby Jenna.
He loves to hold babies and Jenna is just so adorable!!!
She generally looks just like her Daddy, but man she looks like Big Sister Taylor in this picture!

Trouble in the Making

Blake says to me last night, "When do I go back to school?" I told him Wednesday and he said, "The girls at school miss me." I said "Oh yeah, you have girlfriends, what are their names?"
He said, "1, 2, 3, and 4".

Top 5

The Top 5 places I found my children while I was trying to vacuum the house:
5. In my closet trying on my girly shoes
4. In laundry baskets wearing goggles, pretending to race
3. In the cabinet under the sink in the bathroom
2. One in the freezer and one in the refrigerator (it's a side by side and I was secretly impressed)
1. In Blake's room eating m&m's that he had hidden in his closet . . . when I asked what they were doing, Blake ran out of his room and said "Oh, just hanging out" the red alert mommy flag went up and I found them scarfing m&m's at 9am!!!!

I only wish I would have caught them on camera!
